The new Scouts Canada uniforms are out, and I for one am very glad! I love my new red Leader shirt, it's great! I can tell from the stats on my two blogs that people really want to know where the badges go on the new shirts, so I'd like to provide a link to our pack's website, run by our Akela, Carole Hudson. All the information on the new uniforms can be found on her site, along with lots of other great information. Here's the link: Carole's Cub Page. Happy Hunting!
Joshua and I participated in our town's Remembrance Day ceremony. We met the other Cubs and Leaders from our pack at St. Vital's Church around 10:15 a.m. It was windy and chilly, but no snow! All the servicemen, cadets, fire fighters and Scouts/Guides lined up, and we marched through town to the Town Office where the memorial is. The boys did their best to keep up with the real cadets and soldiers. Here's a picture of the sea cadets marching.
Here's our little troop, with our Akela, Carole Hudson. We were standing next to some very well ordered air cadets, who set a great example for our young boys.
Here come the sea cadets! Very impressive to small boys. Josh now wants to be a soldier.
Each community organization got to place a wreath on the memorial. Then all the ordinary citizens placed their poppy on one of the wreaths. There was a trumpeter who played the reveille, and our MP Mike Lake spoke, and our Mayor, Camille Berube. It was cold, it was long, the sound wasn't always great, but we asked the boys to remember it was nothing compared to what our troops go through on a daily basis.
Lest we forget......
Here are Jeffrey and Joshua and a bunch of their friends all geared up to go trick or treating Monday night. Joshua is on the far left, and Jeff is third from the right. They were joined by (L to R) a Russian soldier with a Mexican accent, a hot dog, Waldo, a spy, and Mario. Joshua was some sort of Ninja, and Jeff was a superfast hero named Hyperdrive. There was no snow, so the evening was a success!
Jeffrey took part in his first ever band concert, playing his clarinet! We were treated to a smattering of little songs that they have learned since mid-September. Many were recognizeable. Jeff loves playing music, I'm glad he gets the opportunity to participate in the band program. Yay Jeff!
